EASILY MADE BOOK SHELVES
In the accompanying drawing, you see a very cheap, yet useful and attractive book shelves.
The vertical strips, A, may be 3/4 in. by 2 in. and are screwed to four shelves, B, each cut to the shape of a quarter circle. All screws are countersunk and as the heads all come on the
side next to the wall, they should not show. The simple design can be easily varied somewhat to suit the builder, although the appearance of
the shelves constructed as shown is very pleasing, especially with skilled workmanship, and if the wood carefully stained and varnished. The total cost of construction about a century ago was less than 75 cents. Costs a little bit more these days, but, can still be cheaper, more durable, and more aesthetically pleasing... especially for the do-it-yourself woodworker.
